Five alcoholic drinks consumed in two hours may raise the blood alcohol level to 0.10 percent, which is considered to be legally intoxicated in every state.
Over time, excessive alcohol use can lead to the development of chronic diseases, neurological impairments and social problems. These include but are not limited to: Psychiatric problems, including depression, anxiety, and suicide.
When an individual has a blood alcohol level of 0.35% or above, they are in danger of overdosing; the person would, in most instances, have to drink anywhere from 14-18 drinks in a rather brief period of time for this to occur.
An estimated 46 million adults used both alcohol and tobacco in the past year, and approximately 6.2 million adults reported both an alcohol dependence and dependence to nicotine.
