People among the ages of 12 to 20 years of age drink 11% of all alcohol consumed in the United States.
A significant amount of animal research has reported that rodent infants are susceptible to the reinforcing effects of alcohol; scientists have also noted that when rodents are exposed to alcohol in infancy, it can affect their responsiveness to alcohol later in life.
Not everyone that drinks will develop a tolerance to alcohol, but it can be significant; as some heavy drinkers that have developed a tolerance to alcohol will regularly consume over a quart of hard liquor per day.
Drinking under the influence and driving while intoxicated should serve to identify problem drinkers and guide and coerce educational sessions that should last a minimum of at least one year.
